NEHEMIAH KAI
From Pen Strokes
to Key Strokes
As designers i am often asked to create a more corporate looking brochure, information sheet, or booklet using only text and colour. Part of the job will always be to know the audience and design accordingly; to communicate clearly without being monotonous or repetitious, learn to make colour do some of the work for me and work my grid to create the desired sense of space.
For this project, i have used the theme of “Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde”. As we are some what a little familiar with the story of the famous English novel, hence i will apply it into both Formal & Informal pages using the same typefaces, colours to display the split personality and behaviour of settings, given the right treatment and layout.
Creating the typography project with stylistic reference from the design influence of Constructivism, Bauhaus & De Stijl, it would have a clean structured look, with lines shapes from the typefaces forming part of the design and layout for both Formal & Informal designs. Not forgetting modern graphic designers such as Massimo Vignelli, David Carson, Jan Van Toorn and Neville Brody for stylistic references.
